I see live people.
This may seem like a strange thing to admit, but confessing to possible psychological problems has not been a problem for me in the past. But there are times when I see what I might describe as an aura around people. This only happens to me a few times in a year, and then only during things like a really good sacrament meeting talk or similar circumstance. This aura appears to me as a soft white glow which outlines a person. Am I a nutcase or am I experiencing some type of spiritual gift? I do not bring this up to boast of any great spirituality. But I have not really heard about things like what I am describing as an aura as being legitimate gifts of the spirit. Am I off base here?
I tried to do a search at lds.com and did not come up with anything very specific. I searched through the usual things (Mormon Doctrine, Gospel Doctrine, Teachings, Discourses, etc.) and did not really come up with anything. Some of the best references I found came from the Book of Mormon Index which referenced a few biblical passages as well.
Mosiah 13:5 says that Abinadi’s face shown with exceeding luster even as Moses’ on mount Sinai.
Helaman 5:36 says that the faces of Nephi and Lehi did shine like the faces of angels.
There is also the language of Matthew 5:16 which says to let your light so shine. Might this at times be a literal thing?
I have also heard of times when the face of Joseph Smith would shine occasionally when he spoke, but do not have a reference for that yet.
Some of the purposes of spiritual gifts are given in D&C 46. Among these are that we may not be deceived. They are not given for a sign but are for the benefit of those who love God and keep His commandments, and those who seek to do. I feel that when I see this aura it lets me know that the spirit is at work with the speaker and with me.
So is seeing an aura about people a spiritual gift or just plain goofy?
From David O. McKay in April Conference 1963:
“Every man and every person who lives in this world wields an influence, whether for good or for evil. It is not what he says alone it is not alone what he does. It is what he is. Every man, every person radiates what he or she is. Every person is a recipient of radiation. The Savior was conscious of that. Whenever he came into the presence of an individual, he sensed that radiation—whether it was the woman of Samaria with her past life; whether it was the woman who was to be stoned or the men who were to stone her; whether it was the statesman, Nicodemus, or one of the lepers He was conscious of the radiation from the individual. And to a degree so are you, and so am I. It is what we are and what we radiate that affects the people around us.”
Wow. Excellent quote. Thank you.
Interesting. I don’t think that I have run across accounts of this before.
The McKay quote is actually an almost verbatim pull from James Allen’s As a Man Thinketh. Kimball also quoted extensively from it (the same parts as well) under the chapter of the same name in his Miracle of Forgiveness.
I’ve been thinking about this since you first posted it. In my life the spiritual feelings, dreams, etc. that I’ve had are as real to me as what I can see with my physical eyes.
But when people see angels in (or in the case of the Kirtland temple, on)the temple or something like you describe, I wonder if they are seeing with what you might call spiritual eyes. Are they seeing something that is physically there- or is it being transmitted to the part of the brain that “sees”, or are they actually seeing beyond the veil?
Anyway, I think what you see is real. Most people describe spiritual “messages” as a feeling of some kind, but I think visual is just as valid.
I found some relevant quotes and accounts.
Harold B. Lee had several individuals tell him that they saw an aura around him while he was speaking.
Carlos Asay writes: “I was told of an incident where two missionaries were stopped by a woman on a city walkway. The woman asked, ‘Who are you?’ Before they could answer, she added, ‘You look like angels.’
This story does not sound farfetched to those who are acquainted with the sanctifying influence of service and who have observed the special look of those who are close to the Spirit of the Lord. There is a glow and aura that seem to surround those who walk uprightly before the Lord, seeking to advance his cause of righteousness.” Elder Asay then cites Alma 5:13-19 and Helaman 5:36 (In the Lord’s Service, p. 172).
Vaughn J. Featherstone writes: “Righteous men and women do give off an aura of light. At a funeral service once I heard President Hugh B. Brown say, ‘Death is not the end; it is putting out the candle because the dawn has come.’ Compare the light of a candle to the immensity and glory of the dawning of a new day. Surely our light is limited compared to the light of Christ; nevertheless, He said to His disciples, ‘Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’ (Matthew 5:14-16.) We begin to understand how light works when we have ‘spiritually been born of God . . . [and] received his image in [our] countenance.’ (Alma 5:14.)Those who are worthy when they attend the temple have His image in their countenance. His light is in them and through them. When they choose to be obedient, to sustain and follow the prophets of the living God, the light reaches into their marital relations, family responsibilities, Church callings, and workday activities.” (Incomparable Christ, 67-68).
Bruce Hafen writes in his biography of Elder Maxwell: “Stake president Robert Garff wrote Elder Maxwell after a stake conference in Bountiful, Utah, on May 18, 1987, that ‘the highlight [of the conference] was the Apostolic blessing. . . . many people have said to me that it was a spiritual feast. Some . . . said they noticed a change in your countenance and a unique tone in your voice. . . . The journals of our stake [members] are full of reflections from that weekend.’ This observation echoed something Neal mentioned in his personal notes during the early 1980s. He said that in recent years, on perhaps a half dozen occasions, he had the experience of sensing that ‘the Spirit of our Heavenly Father was especially present’ in a conference or other meeting where he had spoken. In each case, one or two people had ‘come up after the meeting and reported that there was an aura or glow about [him as he] spoke.’ He believed that what they saw indicated to them, probably more than to him, ‘that the Lord was with us and approved’ what was happening ‘at least at that moment'” (A Disciple’s Life).
An experience of Orson Pratt’s: “Elder Pratt said he was present when this revelation [Section 51] was given. No great noise or physical manifestation was made; Joseph was as calm as the morning sun. But he noticed a change in his countenance that he had never noticed before, when a revelation was given to him. Joseph’s face was exceedingly white, and seemed to shine” (Millennial Star, Aug. 11, 1874, p. 498).
CJones – always good to hear from you. Thank you for your insights and support.
JustinB- What outstanding quotes. Thank you so much. Maybe I’m not losing it.
In the OT the Children of Israel saw Moses’ aura and were afraid.
See: Exodus 34:29-35
“And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.
And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him. And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.”
To quote JL: “May we all shine on with the earth, the moon and the sun.”
Eric you are not losing it, but you are finding it by coming into the greater light.
I’ve often seen spiritual light being given off by people. Sometimes you can recognize who the temple workers are in a congregation of saints, because they have the temple glow about them.
I was at a fireside when a temple worker talked about Jesus as the Second comforter. He glowed when he talked about the subject. I received the idea that he had personally met the Savior face-to-face.
It hasn’t happened recently, but in the past I’ve used the glow to identify to whom to give a pass-along card or a Book of Mormon. Many non-members who have faith in Jesus Christ also give off a glow. If they are that close to the Savior, I hope they will recognize him when they read the Book of Mormon.
I saw the glow, and a look of humility, in one man at the gym. I asked him if he had read the Book of Mormon before. And he said he had, but he was no longer interested.
Thanks for your comments about the glow of Temple workers. I met Elder Ballard, am Apostle of the LDS church, a few years ago. I saw him up at the podium speaking to us missionaries, and up close, standing right next to him after the meeting. He glowed more than any one I have ever seen! It was amazing. It was like a big spotlight was on him. I was grateful for this experience.
Charley and Bookslinger.
Thank you fro droping by and for your kind comments. It’s ggod to know I’m not alone in this.
I’ve experienced it, too, but, alas, I have a more temporal explanation for it. “A really good scarament meeting,” you say, as in one where your eye is riveted on the speaker? All people, even when stading at a podium sway slightly as they shift their weight back and forth from foot to foot.
Anything we stare at long enough will cause the “cone” in our eye that receives it’s color of light to ‘max out’ after a while. Afterimages are then visible, where the lack of that color exists in the person’s field of vision. The afterimage will appear to be the color opposite the color of the original object on the color wheel.
If you stare at a large red dot for several seconds (say, about 10 or so), without letting your eyes wander, you can then turn your eyes to a white wall, or a white piece of paper, and you will see what appears to be a green dot. Stare at something blue, and the afterimage will be orange, etc.
I noticed when I would attend particularly interesting lectures as a girl that I could see the same thing. It was not until I learned how afterimages worked that I realized that the white ‘shimmer’ or ‘outline’ that I started to see well in to a talk was simply the afterimage of the person as they swayed within that space.
I really hope that I have not inadvertently flung cold water on something that warmed your heart. I would encourage you to pray about it, because, after all, I do not see with your eyes, and what you see may be something more. That’s between you & the Lord.
I understand. It’s good to look at both sides of the coin. I used to think the same thing as you do. But then, I read on an aura website that the eyes color rod effect does not pertain to auras. I believe Eric saw what he says he saw. (I usually see spirit auras behind the speakers too.) This is something that is real. It is the electrical field around the person (the soul); or spirit (immortal being). We are electric. It has even been discovered that even our blood has electricity in it. I will tell you also that when my mother in law died, at that very moment, I saw a long ribbon, clear colored, rising like smoke coming out of her head and then it disappeared. I didn’t understand, but I did some research and learned: We have a “ribbon” attached to our spirit and our body. That ribbon is very long, so that we can leave our bodies and then come back into our body again. But when that ribbon is severed from our body, we ain’t com’in back. Intersting?
Naiah:
Thank you for your insight here. I was somewhat concerned about the type of thing you are describing. I welcome your thoughts on this and was thinking the same type of thing – thus the question ‘Am I seeing things?’ Ultimately what we feel is the important thing.
” I wonder if they are seeing with what you might call spiritual eyes.”
C Jones was part of some posts and debates at the Thang last summer that relate to this question Eric. One was called “whether in the body or out I cannot tell” and another was called Our spiritual media player.
Even more so on this subject- In prayer, when I have times of deep intercession, praying deep in my prayer language and resting in his presence, when my eyes are open – if the room is completly dark, I can see with my “spiritual eyes” an animated afterimage type tunnel, flowing either away from me (while I am praying) or towards me (resting in His presence) – I think it is something very real that any believer can experience. It’s very focus and defined – also comforting. Has any one ever experienced this? It is very hard to explain, but it’s almost like a moving after image, an almost electric like flow. Thanks!
This is exactly what happens to me
Eric, I have also experienced this gift. You are not weird in anyway. We are reluctant to talk about the things in the spirit that we experience for “fear of man.” I also have a HIGH sensitivity to bad spiritual presences and have had that gift since I was a child. But referring to your gift, I have noticed it seems to be when (an angel or the holy spirit?) is delivering a message to the mind to the mind of the speaker. The holy spirit has instructed me sometimes right before it was going to happen. It has told me to look at their head or in a certain direction. I have experienced it 9 times in my lifetime. Each time it has been in a church where I KNEW THERE WAS A STRONG ANNOINTING! When I was instructed by the holy spirit to go to that specific church. The intensity of the light does differ and sometimes it does not stay. Joyce Meyer spoke about this too. She once said that a believers husband reluctantly came to one of her conferences. He was not saved at the time but during the conference he saw the aura you describe around her head and saw angels on the stage guarding and ministering to her. He said the angels has sowrds drawn to protect her. He saw this for a few minutes. She attributed his vision to God opening his spiritual eyes and allowing him to see with the eyes of the spirit temporarily. God does reveal all in time. I can tell you for me personally it has been a protection and a beautiful gift of some kind. May God bless you and I will pray for a divine revealation of the “why’s and how’s” of the gift. It is clearly for a purpose but what purpose? It is to serve to help others, but how? That I can not answer. I personally know someone whom has the “ears” of holy spirit. The spirit will whisper unrevealed heart secrets about people as protection to him. Why would the eyes be any different in the body of christ? Oddly enough when I asked god before why I saw these things and if I was crazy also I was led to the same scriptures quoted by others on this board. Hope this helps and I will keep u in my prayers.
I am LDS and I write now because the two entries before mine felt deflating and dark. God is the giver of all good gifts and talents, and the purpose for them is to build up the Kingdom and to bear witness of Jesus Christ. Perhaps this gift is given as a personal treasure, to enable you to stand with moral courage in times that try your testimony. I, too, have seen these “halos” of light around people, especially speakers and church leaders. Like the original person who posted this question, when I first discovered this new sensation, I wondered if it was just my eyes playing tricks on me… especially on a few occasions when I was tired. But I want to testify to you that there have been other times when I knew was well-rested, and that my eyes were not tired, when I have seen this same thick outline of light. Depending on the person, it almost rests upon them, like a 6 to 12-inch thick mantel draping over their shoulders, or all the way around the outline of their bodies. I have seen this line of light even when the lights in the room in which I was sitting were either dimmed or darkened. The other reason I know it is more than physical phenomenon is that every person’s outline/halo/line of light/mantle of light that I have been allowed to behold is different. Once, when an Area Authority was bearing particularly powerful testimony, his mantel of light lept and quavered almost in synchronization with the level of power and majesty in his words – that is to say, it flickered like a fire would, leaping and dancing with increase and ebbing of energetic light. The largest and most extensive mantle of light I have ever personally witnessed was in the temple, and I believe that my eyes were opened to see this so that I might know with a surety and bear witness now that I literally saw the priesthood authority of that worthy man resting upon him. I have also seen bodies of light at the temple, which I believe were the spirits of those present either as witnesses/workers from the other side of the veil or those for whom the proxy work was being performed. I wish to say here that there are other spiritual gifts which are not specifically mentioned in scripture, but do exist. I thank you for having the courage to ask this question openly, risking the scorn of the world even, by posting online. I thought I was the only one who saw these sacred things and it is comforting to know that I am not alone in my gift in the Household of Faith. If you listen to the prophets, especially if you take notes, expecting that you will hear what God wills and wants for you – with sincere desire and humility – you will, over course of time, recognize yourself in their words and realize your unique gifts, talents and abilities. God bless you to build up His Kingdom and remain faithful and valiant until He calls you Home.
When I read these conments my heart is filled with the spirit I know that God lives, that he is the Father of our Spirit, I know that Jesus is the the son of God both in the flesh and in the spirit. I am so gratefulle that he gave his life for us that he sufferd in the garden of gethsemane for each one of his brothers and sisters, I am so gratefull to know that we are guided by a prophet of God when the fullness of his gospel is once more on the earth. I know that the book of Mormon is another witness of our Savior and that the holly bibble stands as a witness of our Savior as well in the mouth of 2 or 3 witness shall all words be astablished.
Hello, I am part of a little webgroup of devout LDS who are exploring such things at Yahoo groups called “LDS_Intuitives”. if you want to know more, email me.
Joe
I don’t belong to any religous organization although I feel I’m a spiritual person; I myself have always seen this sort of glow around people and even objects. To me it seems almost like a vibration or cloudy light.
It can be distracting… but its no big deal.
I’m a 29 yr old wife and mother of 3. I run a business from my home.
I think I’m a pretty normal person.
I hope this comforts you.

also, how can it be called an after-image if it’s (all around you) and everything else the (moment or the exact instant) you set your eyes on anything. But, with all due respect I believe I understand and see what the gentleman above was saying about the “after-image” effect.
The posts on here are 3 years old already but I feel the urge to post a word or two in hopes that all of you will return and update anything new that you might’ve experienced or learned in these past years.
I have been searching LDS websites in hopes of finding other saints out there who maybe having supernatural experiences or who may have spiritual gifts like my family has. This is the first LDS website that I have found that has come the closest.
We (my family) are Latter – Day Saints who have been given various spiritual gifts from God. Now, I say that because it was thru a dream that the Lord came to me and told me that my family had been put together for a reason. The reason being that we all have been given spiritual gifts! He said that it is through our gifts that we would do His work and do battle against evil. He told me that He was preparing and gathering His warriors for His army. At the time that I had this dream – I didn’t know what he meant and I had asked what army He was talking about and that’s when He told me – The Army of God!
After receiving this revelation – I went to all my family members to find out if this was really true. Some I already knew were gifted but I never realized that what had been revealed to me would actually be true. Needless to say – I found that not only did they all have gifts – but that many possessed more than one gift. A lot of them never thought of what they had as spiritual gifts and even more – already knowing that they were gifted – were so afraid of what they were experiencing that they looked at their gift as being like a curse.
Like someone mentioned on this website – some of these gifts are not mentioned in scripture. But just because it isn’t mentioned doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
I feel that in these last days – the Lord is using – together with the Holy Priesthood -every gift – every person – and every avenue – to reach the lost. Thru these gifts we are to spiritually prepare ourselves to go out as missionary’s and spread His Gospel – to heal the sick – make the blind-see – make the lame-walk – bring about miracles and to cast out the devil just like the scriptures teach.
Through our God-given gifts we can see beyond the veil. We can see and hear and communicate with angels and loved ones who are on the other side and are around us, family who have crossed over, can come to us with names to take to the temple and we can have their work done a lot quicker. Through our gifts – Our Lord guides us, instructs us and forewarns us thru our dreams and our visions of things to come.
On the flip side of our spiritual gifts – satan makes every attempt to strike at us and our children – but through our gifts – we are able to discern when ever bad spirits are around us, we can see them coming, going and when their trying to affect someone but no matter what comes our way – through our faith in Jesus Christ – we have the ability to cast them out and to stand against them with the Word of God.
So do you think you’re still weird? Do you think you’re seeing things?
puniisham:
Thanks for reading and commenting. I do think there is something to my aura seeing experience. It is not very dramatic but it is not mistakeable either. It only happens to me a couple times a year. Mostly I view it as a testimony building experience for me, and nothing more.
Sounds like you have had some interesting experiences.
Hello Brother Nielson, um…if you only knew! You know the scriptures say that we are all given a gift and the ability to receive more if you but have faith in God. If you pay attention and be open to receive – your spiritual eyes will see. That is really the key – is being open to accept that there is no limits to what the Lord can do and just being open to receive – He will show you spiritually. Don’t put a limit to what God can do for you. God Bless and take care.
I am a convert of 36 years. I am 64. I have been seeing auras during sacrament meeting for about 20 years or more. When I was a kid, I used to look at my arm and notice a tiny thread of outline around it. I didn’t really think much about it. Then I forgot all about it. Kids and babies, I believe, can see auras, but as we get older, we forget about it and lose that ability. I notice when a great soloist hits a beautiful high note, or someone is baring their testimony, the persons aura gets way bigger. I don’t try to see these, it just happens. I see colors around them only once in a while. I used to work on seeing auras as a 21 year old, but rarely saw colors. I guess that is what opened this ability. These are easy to see against a white background like our chapels. But, I see more auras than just the mortals. I see several auras where mortal people are not around. Sometimes they are moving. In Relief Society yesterday, 3 of the auras were yellow and lasted just a few moments. There wasn’t anything yellow in the room that could have caused me to look away and still see that color. They were silhouettes of the human form, filled in with the color yellow. Three separate ones in different against three different walls. I also often see the third eye, indigo color when I close my eyes. I haven’t told anyone about the yellow ones yet, it just happened yesterday. I have a strong testimony in the gospel and I love the Lord with all my heart. My opinion is: I don’t want to delve into mystic things, but I think this ability is a simple, natural thing. I think that some people don’t know they have this ability. For some people it might just come easily, others might have to be curious, like I am and try it in order to discover this. It’s interesting. But to find out more about it, could be dangerous if you become associated with certain types of people that go into mysticism. There are so many things we don’t know. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell someone that maybe won’t think I’, nuts.
Jeanette:
I don’t think you are nuts. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I’m not a Christian specifically, though I do believe whole-heartedly in God in my way, in my own understanding (something I could only accept if it came from within, not from the possibly manipulated or flawed teachings of men – I waited for God to answer, and got one). I was looking tonight for an answer to the same thing you are, whether scientific or spiritual or both (after all, God didn’t flunk science). I wanted to tell you about my experience – to share, and hope that it might help you too in some way.
I see the haze you describe often. I see it when I choose to look at it, but I can also ‘not see’ it if I want. It looks like a translucent white haze blanketing people and some things (trees an plants are especially easy to catch it on). Some people are brighter, and some people are weaker. I’ve seen a couple people with almost none at all. This haze is not cone/rod depletion (I suspected this first). I’ll explain in a moment why I believe that. If I look a moment longer, I will begin to see colors – this was most disturbing when it first occurred. I see all sorts of colors, though the most common seem to be greens, blues, and oranges. I have seen red, brown, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple in different intensities and locations around people. I can see these within approx. 5-10 seconds, and sometimes instantaneously. When I started noticing this, I tried looking it up, and only became overloaded with sites talking about auras and energies. This is frustratingly inconclusive, and too many people make vast assumptions on this subject. I tried a test: I looked at my hand with one eye shut until the distinctive color appeared around it, (about 4-5 seconds against a white background), and then quickly switched eyes. The greenish blue color not only did not disappear, as I suspected with a ‘fresh’ eye, but became vividly bright! It looked like someone had turned on a neon sign around my hand. I’ve since tried looking for differences between eyes – I can’t seem to discern a noticeable difference in color and intensity (thought maybe this might explain the odd outcome of the rod/cone test), and I can’t tell for sure if I have synaesthesia (this seems most promising, for a scientific explanation). I’ll continue to consider various possibilities, but for now, it makes the world just a little prettier 🙂
I wish you success in the pursuit of truth, both for others to believe, and the truth that you alone can know.
Thanks.
You are not alone, I also from canada being a covert to lds. I have seen auras around people at church or anyone of gods works. I believe this is the gift of the holy spirit. My theory Is that when we were born again we were given the gift of the holy ghost and we were blessed with the ability to see God shine through other people, and see God shining through people by the holyghost.
Thanks for sharing that Brooke.
I found this thread while desperately searching on spiritual gifts. My precious daughter is 12…she has autism and the day she was born and placed in my arms i knew she was special. She has some amazing spiritual gifts….one of these gifts is seeing auras. She saw her first one while having her baptism interview with our very spiritual and gentle branch president. She said there was a beautiful white mist all around him and she knew he loved her and that jesus was there. This coming from a child who wasnt supposed to even talk ever ! Her scripture journals are amazing she is just really spiritual sensitive and i believe the veil is thin with her. Shes been having nightmares of people hurting her…she explained last night that she felt this was satans only way of getting to her because she walks so closely with christ. I prayed to heavenly father…begging him to keep her safe. She slept peacefully all night while i, in turn, had horrific nightmares. I will gladly take them from her, but im going to ask our branch president to give marlee a blessing today. Is 12 to young for a patriarchal blessing ?
Jaellekaylor,
I hope things go well with your daughter. I believe patriarchal blessings can be requested anytime. A blessing for yourself may not be a bad idea either. Thanks for your comment.
This happens to me too!! And it happened to me before I was converted. Are the auras ever in color? Sometimes mine are but the way it glows I cant really describe the color.
Thank you for sharing, and now I feel a little less crazy and grateful. Lol
Michelle,
For me the auras are always white-ish.
Eric,
I have experienced these auras for years. Recently I had a new experience with auras at a funeral for a friend. Most auras I have seen have a definite edge and are usually whitish. The aura was around a grieving grand daughter and it shown out brightly and grew then just moved out to the side. During her time speaking this happened several times and then after her a lady sang and the same thing happened again. Have you ever seen auras like this, where they actually “shine”?
I guess I would always describe them as a shine. I have never seen one move.
I attended a catholic mass today in Auckland New Zealand and saw white hazes around the ministers etc. up the front . Also around those lining up for communion. They always moved up to the right hand corner of the the church ceiling. I am not a catholic but taught in a catholic school for many years; as the wall behind them was white and there were hanging lights from the ceiling I thought I had maybe a visual disturbance. Some of the white shapes as they rose resembled smoky clouds and one from the priest looked like a mother and baby. I asked my friend who is a practicing catholic but she couldn’t see them so I did some research and found this site. I don’t know what to think but they all definitely moved up to the right.I could sometimes distinguish white human shapes above the people going up for communion and on the white wall. I wonder if there is a scientific explanation?
On Sunday at church, we were talking about temples and I saw the white outline around the speaker. I have seen this before but I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, I turned to the Sister Missionary sitting next to me and I pointed and asked her if she saw that. She asked what??? And I basically just traced around with my finger and I said wait until he’s done because I wanted to listen to the rest of what he was saying. She gasped! The white outline lingered with him and she confirmed that we are NOT CRAZY!!! For I did not tell her what I saw and she saw it too. When the last speaker got up and We both saw the same thing around him.
I have experienced the same thing Heather. Thanks for commenting.
I see auras every sunday during sacrament. I have bad eyesight and always thought this contributed. However I was wearing my glasses today, we had fasting testimony meeting and every single person had a beautiful shine to them. I also looked behind them and there is an arch on the wall, I could see many spirits coming out of the arch which looked like a doorway, they would come in and sit down up behind the bishopric and join us in our sacrament meeting. I believe the first 2 were heavenly father and Jesus followed by many others. It was a beautiful sacrament
I seen it to. And your not going crazy. I am also a LDS too
This is good to hear.
I have been seeing the same thing for as long as I can remember. Like you said, I mostly notice it at church, though recently I’ve been also noticing it in other places. I have hesitated trying to sniff around online to avoid getting into weird stuff that has no gospel grounds, but finally I did look it up. What I found was that the white glow we see around people is the energy from their spirit, and is the first layer of the aura. Developing this spiritual gift farther would eventually lead to the ability to see the colors of the aura as well, which like you said, would be a seriously fantastic tool to use to avoid being decieved. (Though please do your own research, as I am by no means an authority on this subject.) I have heard of some people in the church who have certain abilities like this, and it makes me sad that it seems like such a taboo subject. It’s mostly the reason I have avoided trying to understand what I see for so long. Best of luck to you!
I know your post is really old, but I thought it was sad no one had commented.
Seeing auras is not crazy. Many people in the LDS community can. I think it’s not talked about A. Because it’s sacred and/or B. Because it doesn’t fit well in our culture.
Seeing auras quickly runs into the realm of hippies, psychics, and spiritualists—which don’t have the best reputation in many church cultures.
I see them too! I thought everyone did until recently, and now I’m so glad I’m not the only one. But I wish there was more information.
I know a woman who has this same gift and is a strong member. She told me it is part of the gift of healing because once you see peoples auras you can help them heal. Auras and the different colors can show you peoples weaknesses and strengths, therefore you can tell a lot about a person. On my mission in Idaho I met a woman who is not a member of the church but one day I gave her a blessing she said she could see everyone’s auras and told me how she could only do this when she felt feelings of joy and love really strong (the Holy Ghost although she didn’t know this)
I also see this beautiful Arua glowing around the brothers and bishop. Not many members won’t understand.l believe few members are gifted. Which l believe its sacred that is given from Heavenly Father l have the gift its a good warm feelings to have.
I have also seen auras around people talking during sacrament, especially when I first joined the church. I seen them on a regular basis then. Since then I have only seen them a handful of times.
Glad I’m not the only one.
