Uncle Eric’s Famous Homemade Chili

I aint your uncle (probably), and my chili aint famous.  But I like it, and my kids will eat it.  If you like a simple, good tasting chili without many ‘chunks’ to it, this may be something to try.

1 lb hamburger
3 cans of pinto beans (or similar beans – 15 oz )
2 cans tomato sauce (15 oz)
1 cup beef broth
3 T chili powder
1 T onion powder
1 clove garlic
1T sugar
2 t cumin
1 t tyme
1 t paprika
1 t oregano
1 t black pepper

Brown hamburger and drain.  Add remaining ingredients and stir.  Let simmer an hour or so.  Make any modifications you like.  Enjoy.

Ok. Next Monday I’m doing this. (Maybe 2lbs hamburger). Any variations you’ve found “unsuccessful” – just so I know?

I tried using molasses instead of sugar. I did not like that very much – tasted to much like barbeque sauce instead of chili.
