My oldest son is finishing up his work on earning his Eagle scout award. His project is to make audio recordings of children’s books for local elementary schools. This will benefit children who have trouble reading for any reason. The schools are pretty excited about it. If you would like to help, here is what you can do:
Record yourself reading a children’s book and burn it on to a CD – preferably in a .wav file format.
Send it along with a copy of the book (copyright stuff), along with your name and amount of time spent.
This could be sent to:

Stugis, MI 49091

Eric, great idea. Any guidance on what kinds of books (or target age)? Any elementary-level book?
Yes, Paul. Any book you might find in an elementary school library. Most likely K-3rd.
You can also download free audio books of classic stories online. Use a search engine to find titles. You can get more ideas of possible free books on a website called the “Baldwin Project.” Look under “Curricula” for list of book recommendations grades 1-6.
What a cool Eagle Project! If someone chooses to reads more than one book, should they send separate disks for each book, or place all on one disk?

P.S. Congrats for your post being featured in the DesNews BBB. Hopefully many will choose to help!
P.P.S. What is the deadline?
MoSop:
Separate disks would be best. The plan is that the disk would stay with the book.
There is no firm deadline – but mid November would be nice.
Eric, just so you know, one of the young men in my ward liked this and is doing it for his eagle project. Thanks!
It has been a good project so far. Hope it works out on your end as well.
